Privacy notice
How we use your information
Driver registration. Last updated 5 October 2026.
This notice explains how Chauffeured uses personal information about people who register to drive with us, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
Chauffeured is a venture of Jayrise Investments Limited, a company registered in Gibraltar, which is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us about anything in this notice at drivers@chauffeured.com.
What we collect
When you register, we collect:
- your name, mobile number, email address and home postcode;
- the work you are interested in, how long you have held your driving licence, whether you hold or are applying for an SIA licence (and its number, if you give it), whether you have served in the Armed Forces and in which service, your availability, and details of your own car if you plan to use it;
- how you heard about us, including any charity or referral code, the page you arrived on and basic campaign information from the link you followed;
- the confirmations and choices you make on the form, with the date and time you made them;
- a photo of your driving licence or SIA badge, only if you choose to upload one.
If you go on to verification, we will also collect the information needed for identity, right to work, DVLA licence and DBS checks, and to check your SIA licence on the public register. We will tell you more about this when we send you the verification link.
To protect the form from misuse we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address together with your email and mobile number, and delete these records after a short period.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Assessing your registration and contacting you about it | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you |
| Verification checks: identity, right to work, DVLA licence, DBS and SIA | Steps before a contract; legal obligation where the law requires a check; and, for criminal record information, the conditions in Schedule 1 of the Data Protection Act 2018, with an appropriate policy document in place |
| Matching you to work in your area and at the right tier | Steps before a contract, and our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable service |
| Understanding which charities, partners and campaigns bring drivers to us | Our legitimate interest in recruiting drivers efficiently and thanking those who refer them |
| Keeping the form secure and preventing misuse | Our legitimate interest in protecting our service and the people who use it |
| Sending news and information about new work, if you ask us to | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
Telling us about Armed Forces service is optional. We use it only to support veterans into work and to take relevant experience into account. We do not ask for health information at registration.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with:
- service providers who host and run our systems for us, including our database provider (Supabase, with data held in London) and our website host, under contracts that require them to protect it;
- the organisations that carry out verification checks with your knowledge, such as the DVLA, the Disclosure and Barring Service and its registered bodies, and the Security Industry Authority register;
- our insurance partner, where that is needed to arrange cover for journeys you drive;
- clients, once you are approved and accept a job, who see the limited details needed for that job;
- regulators, the police or other authorities where the law requires it.
Where a provider processes information outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK law.
How long we keep it
If you are approved, we keep your information for as long as you drive with us and for a period afterwards to meet our legal, insurance and tax obligations. If your registration does not go ahead, we delete your information 12 months after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Uploaded photos of documents are kept only for as long as we need them for verification.
How we protect it
Your registration is sent over an encrypted connection and stored in a private database that only authorised Chauffeured staff can access after signing in. Document photos are kept in private storage and can only be viewed by our verification team through short-lived links.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, email drivers@chauffeured.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if the way we use your information changes, and show the date of the latest version at the top.
